OLIVER “BUD” AMDAHL
December 22, 1924 - August 12, 2007

Bud was born December 22, 1924 in Newburg Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota to Burnett and Pearl (Peterson) Amdahl.  He graduated from the Mabel High School in 1943. He owned a milk hauling route and hauled both canned and bulk milk.  On September 12, 1952 he married Dorothy Flynn at the rectory in Canton, Minnesota. They operated a gas station in Harmony where they resided for a short time. In 1958 they moved to their farm near Tawney, Minnesota.  They later moved to a farm site in Preble Township, where they have resided since. Besides farming, Bud was a cattle buyer for a number of years and has been a realtor in Mabel for 30 years at Amdahl Realty.  He served for several years on the Preble Township Board, was a member of the Scheie Lutheran Church, the Realtors Association, and formerly of the Mabel Lions Club. Bud was extremely talented with his hands; he had the ability to fix, repair, or build any type of challenge that came his way.  As a farmer he had a great respect and love for the land and his Country; but his greatest joy was his family and spending time with them.
Bud passed away Sunday, August 12, 2007 at his home at the age of 82.
Bud is survived by his wife Dorothy; four children Rachel (Jimmy) Narum, Linda (Craig) Olson, Craig (Lauren) and Mike all of Mabel; seven grandchildren Chad Inglett, Justin Olson, Trevor Narum, Melissa Narum, Logan Olson, Jenna Amdahl, and Jesse Amdahl; six great grandchildren Justin, Alaina, Madison, Caden, Emma, and Jackson;  three brothers Donald (Leona) of Mabel, Burgee (Joyce) of New Richmond, Wisconsin, and Richard (Charlotte) of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; two sisters Doris (William) Brokken of Santa Barbara, California, and Betty (Keith) Sandvik of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew David Amdahl.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday, August 16 at the Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM Wednesday, August 15 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services.
