Peter was born June 25, 1932 in Mabel to Andrew and Nola (Sherburne) Newman.
He graduated from the Mabel High School in 1950. On November 14, 1954 he married Janice Marie Deters in Eitzen, Minnesota. He worked in the family plumbing business for over forty years, first with his father and then with his two sons. His passion, however, was family, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of the Mabel United Methodist Church and formerly of the Mabel Business Association.
Peter passed away Sunday, December 30, 2007 of pancreatic cancer at his home at the age of 75.
Peter’s family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to his doctors, nurses, friends, and relatives for their care and thoughtfulness during his long illness.
Peter is survived by his wife Janice of Fountain; four children Michael
(Catherine) of Mabel, Nikki (John) Lampe of St. Paul, Minnesota, Randy
(Julie) of Canton, Minnesota, and Roslyn (Paul) Forde of Fountain; five grandchildren Nathan Forde, Tessa and Tyler Newman, and Eric and Ryan Newman; and two sisters Phyllis (Tom) Holven of Toledo, Iowa, and Patricia
(Cletus) Hanson of Spring Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Nola and a sister Marilyn Barz.
Memorial service will be 11 AM Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Mabel United Methodist Church in Mabel, Minnesota with Pastors Jeanne Martin and Burton Hoag co-officiating. Burial will be in the Mabel Public Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. There will be no viewing. Memorials to the Mabel United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society are preferred in Lieu of flowers. |
