MARVIN  L. SHERBURNE
February 10, 1926 - November 29, 2007

 

Marvin was born February 10, 1926 on the family farm in Newburg Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota to Mert and Fannie (Watkins) Sherburne.  He attended school in Mabel and then worked on the farm until 1965 when he moved into Mabel. Marvin served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.
He worked as a carpenter for a lumber yard in Mabel and then was longtime employee of Minnowa Construction in Harmony.  Marvin was a dedicated member of the Mabel United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 299 in Mabel. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends and gardening.
Marvin passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 29, 2007 at his home at the age of 81.
Marvin is survived by three sisters Neva Opsahl and Zelda (Leland)Sagdalen both of Mabel, and Priscilla Thompson of Decorah, Iowa; a brother Milton of St. Paul, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; four half-sisters; and two half-brothers.
Funeral services will be 11 am Monday, December 3, 2007 at the Mabel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeanne Martin officiating.  Burial will be in the Mabel Public Cemetery with military rites from the Mabel American Legion.  Visitation will be from 2 pm to 5 pm Sunday, December 2, 2007 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
