Phyllis April Bangs, 77, of Mabel, Minnesota, died Thursday, October 29, 2026 at Green Lea Senior Living in Mabel.
Phyllis was born April 4, 1949, in DeLand, Florida to Ralph and Shirley (Holzer) Moyer. She graduated from the De Land High School. On August 20, 1969 she married Larry Dean Bangs at the Henrytown Lutheran Church in rural Harmony, Minnesota. They had lived in Mabel, Rochester, Stewartville, and Utica before moving back to the Lanesboro area in 1980. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. She enjoyed reading, watching television and taking trips to the casino.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Sheila Melbostad (Jacob Ernst) of Mabel; two grandchildren Nick (Clarissa) Spande, and Megan Melbostad both of Mabel; two great grandchildren Lillian and Camden; two sisters Jean Higgenbotham, and Patricia (Robert) Diehlmann two sisters-in-law Janice (Wally) Beuch and Linda Benson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry; her son Shad Bangs; her parents Ralph and Shirley; sister-in-law Julie Bangs; three brothers-in-law Henry Higgenbotham, Maloy Bangs, Jr., and Jerome bangs.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Wednesday, November 4th at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel. Burial will be at a later date in the Henrytown Lutheran Cemetery.
