Suanne Marie Turner, age 75, of Edina, MN (formerly of Canton, MN) passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by love after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She was born on October 25, 1950, in Preston, Minnesota, to Arden and Verna (Finney) Turner.
Suanne was baptized at Newburg Methodist Church and later confirmed at Canton-Scotland Presbyterian Church. Her faith remained an important part of her life, and at the time of her passing she was a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church.
She graduated from Mabel-Canton High School in 1968 and proudly earned her degree in Applied Science from the University of Minnesota in 2001 at the age of 50, an accomplishment that reflected her determination, curiosity, and lifelong love of learning.
Suanne dedicated more than 34 years to Kellogg Company, where she built a successful career and countless lifelong friendships. Her work took her to many places throughout the years, and she truly enjoyed the experiences, relationships and adventures that came along with her career. Suanne also loved sharing the fun perks of working for a cereal company with family and friends—making sure those around her were never short on snacks, treats, and a little extra joy.
Known affectionately as everyone’s favorite aunt, Suanne brought warmth, kindness, and joy wherever she went. She loved crafting, traveling, singing in her church choir, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Her gentle spirit, resilience, quick smile, and caring heart will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Suanne is survived by her brothers, Gary (Carole) Turner of Lakeville, Minnesota, and Greg (Linda) Turner of Mabel, Minnesota; her sister, Rhonda Brown of Edina, Minnesota; and seven beloved nieces and nephews: Brent (Karen) Turner, Dana Turner (Colin Fowler), C.J. (Michelle) Turner, Nichole Soto, Luke (Ellie) Brown, Evie Brown, and Kirsten (Doug) Wyffels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arden and Verna Turner; her grandparents, Wilson and Eva (Harsh) Finney; and A. Leslie and Flora (McKay) Turner.
A celebration of Suanne’s life will be held on Saturday, June 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 15309 Maple Island Road, Burnsville, MN. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment at Henry (on the Hill) Cemetery, 35919 Edgewood Road, Harmony, MN will take place at a later date.
Memorials are preferred to Henry Cemetery, Grace United Methodist Church, or Canton-Scotland Presbyterian Church.
