Kevin Charles Every

May 10, 1956 - February 7, 2026

Kevin Charles Every, 69, of Preston, died Saturday, February 7th at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester following a two-month fight with cancer.

Kevin was born May 10, 1956, in Preston to Charles and Emma (Hellem) Every. He graduated from Preston High School with the class of 1974. On April 22, 1978, Kevin married the love of his life, Joyce Larson, at the Mabel United Methodist Church in Mabel. Kevin worked at his dad’s Standard Station in Preston, for the Farmers’ Union Co-op, and then at Jerry’s Body Shop, which would later become Preston Service Plus, for 44 years, retiring in 2022. After retiring, he worked part-time at NAPA in Preston. He was also a bartender at the Branding Iron Supper Club for nearly 21 years.

Kevin was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church and had served on the Board of Directors for Maple Leaf Services. He enjoyed vintage cars and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and had ridden in most of the United States. He was a very social person and knew (and remembered) almost everyone in the area.  He enjoyed camping, grilling, telling a good joke, but most of all, he loved being with his family and friends.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joyce; two children, Nathan (Stacy) Every of Preston and Lindsi (Jarid) Engle of Florenceville, Iowa; a grandson, Charles; two sisters, Cheryl (Dennis) Miller of Harmony and Dawn Every of Fountain; and many nieces and nephews who were so special to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Laurie, a brother, Gary, his father and mother-in-law, as well as his brother-in-law.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston with the Rev. Kris Hertsgaard Kincaid officiating.  Burial will be in the Mabel Public Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church.

The family would like to thank all of the medical staff with Mayo Clinic for their compassionate care during Kevin's last months.
