Keith H. Halverson, 89, of Decorah, former lifelong Mabel area farmer, died Monday, September 1, 2025 at Wellington Place in Decorah, Iowa.
Keith was born October 31, 1935 in Mabel, Minnesota, to Clifford and Mildred (Storlie) Halverson. When Keith was a young boy, the family moved to a farm north of Mabel where he resided for over 75 years. He was a 1954 graduate of Mabel High School. In 1974 he was united in marriage to Joanne Freidhof. They lived on the farm where Keith grew up and raised their children, Jessica and Andrew. Keith was a life-long member of the Scheie Lutheran Church and enjoyed coin collecting, metal detecting, Oliver tractors, and bowling.
Keith is survived by his children Jessica (Jay) Solum of Spring Grove, and Andrew (Megan) of Woodbury, Minnesota; grandchildren Jacob, Evander, Katie, Liviana, Caleb, Sonny, Harley, Connor, and Chase; sister Lorraine Rud of Waukon, Iowa: sisters-in-law Loretta Halverson of Rochester, Judi Henderson of Clarkston, Georgia, Terri Thayer of Marion, Iowa: brothers-in-law John Freidhof of Waterloo, Iowa Leonard (Mollie) Freidhof of Lanark, Illinois, and Tim (Deb) Freidhof of Osseo, Wisconsin; and; several nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joanne, a brother, Leonard Halverson, and brothers-in law Darryl Rud and Tom Henderson.
The funeral service will be 1:00 PM Monday, September 8 at Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel. Burial will be in the Scheie North Cemetery in rural Mabel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
