Brent Michael Martin, 70, died on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Southwest Health Center in Platteville, Wisconsin.
Brent was born in Decorah, Iowa on October 19, 1954 to John and Gloria Martin. He grew up in the family home near Prosper and attended school in Prosper and Canton before graduating from Mabel-Canton High School in 1972. Brent then attended Winona State University for one year before transferring and graduating from UW-LaCrosse with a teaching degree in the social sciences. He would eventually earn a Masters degree from UW-Platteville to complete his education. Brent spent his entire teaching career at Belmont Community School District in Belmont, Wisconsin. While at Belmont, Brent organized and led many European tours for his students and others in the Belmont community.
He was an avid sports fan for all things Minnesota and in particular, the Minnesota Vikings. Brent also enjoyed listening to music, watching western and classic movies as well as the occasional trip to a casino.
Brent is survived by his mother, Gloria Martin Willford, his siblings Merilee Hein, Debra (Ron) Schloer, and Craig (Peggy) Martin; nieces and nephews Laura, Melanie, Alexandra, Aaron, Marisa, Travis, Tyler, and Bethany and many great nieces and nephews. Brent was preceded in death by his father, John Martin, stepfather, Merlin Willford, and brother-in-law, Alvin Hein.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 1 p.m. at the Burr Oak United Methodist Church in Burr Oak, Iowa.
