Ronald P. Willert

July 30, 1939 - March 8, 2025

Ronald P. Willert, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, 85, of rural Mabel, passed away, Saturday, March 8th at his home surrounded by his family.

Ronald was born July 30, 1939 in Austin, Minnesota to Elmer and Susanna (Roskop) Willert. From 1958 to 1962 he proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Shangri-La for a short time, then as a Gunner’s Mate on the USS Oriskany. After his discharge, he was a taxi driver, was a carpenter, and had worked in different factories.  In 1962 he was united in marriage to Eddamae Iverson. They lived in Austin until1979 when they moved to Albert Lea and to Waukon, Iowa in 2006 before moving to Mabel in 2019.

Ronald enjoyed fishing, motorcycle rides, boating, and was always building or tinkering.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Eddamae of Mabel; children Dawn Barclay of St. James, Minnesota, and Scott of Lanesboro; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brothers Richard and Vern; sisters Roxanne, Valerie, and Diane; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers Mike, Eddie, and Jim.

Burial will be 1 p.m., Friday, April 11th at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minnesota.
