Leona was born July 7, 1926 in Amherst Township of Fillmore County, Minnesota to Clint and Mabel (Hummal) Vickerman. On August 3, 1951 she married Palmer Wangen at the Highland Prairie Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Canton and Harmony areas until 1974 when they moved into Canton. Palmer passed away on December 29, 2001. She loved her farm animals, her team of ponies, and her flowers.
Leona passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Green Lea Senior Living in Mabel at the age of 97.
Leona is survived by her children Larry (Rhonda) of Texas, Vergene Kelly of Canton, Arlis of Harmony, and Ricky (JoAnne) of Lime Springs, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; and 34 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Palmer, a son, Leslie, a granddaughter, Brenda Wangen, and a son-in-law Jim Kelly.
