ODELL M. SOBERG, 87, of Spring Grove, formerly of Mabel, died Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Tweeten Health Care in Spring Grove.
Odell was born October 2, 1936 in Spring Grove to Alfred and Inga (Larson) Soberg. He attended country school near his home before attending the Mabel High School. He farmed with his father near Hesper, Iowa until his father died in a traffic accident in November, 1952. Odell ran the farm for a few years before moving to Mabel. He was inducted into the Army in 1960 and was sent to Germany. He was discharged in 1962. He had worked for Hagen Lumber in Mabel and then for Whit-Craft in Winona. When the company moved to Florida, he was employed in maintenance at Northern Engraving in Spring Grove until he retired. He resided in Spring Grove with his mother and was her caretaker until she passed away in April, 1989. Odell entered assisted living in August, 2022.
Funeral service will be 11 AM, Saturday, December 9th at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be in the Mabel Public Cemetery. |
