Kim M. Wangen

October 15, 1957 - May 18, 2023

Kim Michelle (Richardson) Wangen, of Harmony, went to her heavenly home on May 18, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 65.

Kim was born on October 15, 1957, in Harmony, Minnesota, to Gaylon and Lucy Richardson.  She graduated from Mabel-Canton High School in 1975 and married her sweetheart, David Wangen, on July 26, 1975.

Kim started her work career as a waitress and then went on to become the Bakery Manager at the Harmony IGA.  From there, she furthered her education and became a Home Health Aide for Fillmore County Public Health where she worked for the next 28 years which she absolutely loved.  Kim then decided it was time for a change, so she became a Certified Nursing Assistant and for the next 6 years she worked at the Harmony Gundersen Care Center.  In 2020, Kim was diagnosed with cancer which pushed her to retire early.
Kim enjoyed having a garden and loved flowers.  She also enjoyed embroidery and cross stitching.  Kim loved spending time and creating memories with her family.  One of Kim's greatest gifts to all of us was her love for helping and caring for anyone and everyone.

Kim is survived by her loving husband of almost 48 years, David, along with their three children Todd (Kelly) Wangen, Andrea (Jason) Hare, and Trevor Wangen in addition to their four grandchildren Kyleigh Wangen, Garrett Wangen, Drew Wangen, and Grace Wangen.  Kim is also survived by her brother, Scott Richardson, and sister, Tami (Doug) Marin along with mother-in-law, Naomi Wangen, sister-in-laws Darlene (Carrol) Tudahl, Julie Burkholder, Carolyn (Dean) Solberg and brother-in-law Jason (Kelly) Wangen in addition to many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kim was proceeded in death by her parents, brother Stacey Richardson, father-in-law Peter Wangen, and brother-in-law Jerry Wangen.

A Celebration of Life will be 11 am, Saturday, May 27th at the Canton-Scotland Presbyterian Church in Canton, Minnesota.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be in the Bristol Center Cemetery in rural Harmony.
