Sandra J. Wenig, 79, of Spring Grove passed away Friday, December 16, 2022 at Gundersen Tweeten Care Center in Spring Grove.
Sandra was born February 26, 1943 in Spring Grove, Minnesota to Clarence and Martha (Haugstad) Garness. She graduated from the Spring Grove High School. On April 18, 1964 she married Romaine Wenig. They lived in South Carolina before moving to Rockford, Illinois. There she worked in the banking and insurance business. In 2000 they moved back to Spring Grove where she worked at Jennings State Bank. Sandra was a woman of great faith and was an active member at the Aldersgate Methodist Church in Rockford and then the Caledonia United Methodist Church. She held several positions in both churches and enjoyed playing with the bell choir. She enjoyed traveling, baking, and cooking, and treasured her family and friends. Romaine passed away January 5, 2020.
Sandra is survived by her sisters Charmaine Blagsvedt, Susan (Barry) Dahl, Linda (Larry) Seegmiller, and Pam (Charles) Lamb; a brother David (Stephanie) Garness; brother and sister in-laws Roland (Kay) Wenig, Duane (Lela) Wenig, Barbara Boyle, and Dorothy (Al) Oesterle; many nieces and nephews; several special God Children; and Tim, who was like a son to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Romaine; her parents, Clarence and Martha; mother and father-in-law, Franklin and Erma Wenig; brothers-in-law Ordell Blagsvedt, Charles Boyle, Robert Opsahl; and many special family members.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 20th at Faith Lutheran Church in Black Hammer. Visitation will be 9:30 - 11a.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service. Burial will be in the St. John’s Methodist Cemetery in rural Dorchester, Iowa.
