Steven L. Helgeson, 69, of Mabel, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 18, 2022 at his home in Mabel.
Steve was born February 1, 1953 in Harmony, Minnesota to Ruben and Dorothy (Blagsvedt) Helgeson. He attended school in Lenora and Canton before graduating from the Mabel-Canton High School in 1971. He completed welding training in Winona and was a co-owner of H & H Welding in Canton. He then worked for Midland in Harmony before becoming a union sprinkler fitter, retiring in 2008. He also worked at the Bracketts Crossing Country Club in Lakeville.
In 2003 he married Christine Rommes in Farmington. In 2010 they moved back to Mabel and have resided there since. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing.
Steve is survived by his wife Christine of Mabel; one step-daughter Raquel Marlow of Canton; two step-grandchildren Riley Marlow of Canton, and Danielle Connolly of St. Petersburg, Florida; his mother Dorothy of Mabel; a sister Linda (Dale) Klabo of Winona; a niece Dana (Christian) Kauphusman and her children Aleah and Bryn; a nephew Seth Helgeson Shirley (Kaitlyn Kriner) and their son, Dax; and brothers-in-law Lamont (Betty) Rommes, Roger (Shirley) Rommes, and Bob (Diane) Rommes. He was preceded in death by his father, Ruben.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
