LEVINA SVEEN

September 11, 1929 - October 24, 2020

Levina Johnson Sveen, age 91, died Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford, Minnesota.

Levina was born to Arthur and Minnie (Hongerholt) Johnson.  She attended rural schools near Lanesboro, Minnesota.  On October 1, 1947 she married Sven Tillman Sveen and were married 64 years.  Together they raised two children: Vonda Budde and Stanley Sveen.

Levina worked along side her husband milking cows, raising hogs and chickens. She had a large garden and canned both fruits and vegetables.  She worked 27 years at Rush Products in Rushford.  After retiring she also ran a popcorn stand in both Rushford and Lanesboro.

She was active in the Whalen Lutheran Church as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Ladies Aid and Circle.  She was also active in the Whalen American Legion Auxiliary.  Some of her favorite past times were embroidering table runners, pillowcases, dish towels, and taking road trips with Sven.   She was a very patient person, she loved socializing and playing cards and dice.

Levina is survived by her children Vonda (Richard) Budde and Stanley (Cindy) Sveen; six grandchildren Audra Bahr, Emily (Christopher) Osbourn, Stan (Nicole) Sveen, Gabriel Sveen (Chris Stauthammer), Hillary (Patrick) Geiger, and Alexandra (Aaron) Hastey; fifteen great grandchildren Mackenzie (Chad) Hicks, Hailey and Dalton Bahr, Sydney and Noah Osbourn, Alyssa Sanford, Abigail Sveen, Samuel, Julia, Max Geiger, Freya, Tillman, Guthrie Hastey, Sven Stauthammer Sveen, and Brigtta Sveen Stauthammer. Also two brothers Arlyn and Everett Johnson of Lanesboro, a sister Darlene Hanson of La Crosse, Wisconson, and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and five sisters; Inez Hogie, Verna Pope, Minerva Reimann, Muriel Holland, and an infant sister.

A private family service will be held on Sunday November 1, 2020 at 2 p.m. in Mabel at the Mengis Funeral Home.  Graveside service will follow in Whalan Lutheran Cemetery.
