ELEANOR PETERSON

January 27, 1928 - November 16, 2019

Eleanor was born January 27, 1928, the 8th of 15 children, to Alvin and Stella (Larson) Bremseth.  She was baptized at the Elstad Lutheran church where she remained a lifelong member.

After attending Elstad and Durkin country schools, she attended and graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1946.  Eleanor then attended and graduated from the Franklin School of Nursing in Minneapolis. After which she worked at the Sheltering Arms Polio Hospital in Minneapolis.

Eleanor and Gerald Peterson were married on February 14, 1949.  Together they farmed in the Lanesboro area for over forty years.  Jerry passed away in 2004.

Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She belonged to the Ladies Aid at Elstad where she helped make many quilts and various items for Lutheran World Relief.  She also enjoyed gardening, baking, reading, playing cards, spending time with friends and family, and traveling.

Eleanor passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield at the age of 91.

Eleanor is survived by five children Ruth (George) Keller, Mary (Rich Bjortornt) Self, Diane (Al) Plumb, Peter (Mary), and Paul (Darcy); seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two brothers Roger and James Bremseth; three sisters Lois (Percy) Peterson, Phyllis (Roger) Kvitrud, and Rebecca (Marvin) Sandness; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; brothers Arden, Syrald, Alvin Jr., Carroll, Wallace, and Charles; and sisters Judith Feay, Marlice Olstad, and Neoma Youngquist; a son-in-law; and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Elstad Lutheran Church, rural Lanesboro with Pastor Luther Mathsen officiating.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be    Thursday, 9:30 - 10:45 prior to services at the church.  Memorials are preferred to the Elstad Lutheran Church.
