DELONE F. FOSSUM

July 20, 1929 - December 2, 2018

Delone was born July 20, 1929 on the farm in rural Lanesboro to Peter and Coranda (Blagsvedt) Roshiem. She was raised on the farm along with three siblings, Lillian, Milton, and Gilma. She attended the Ellstad Lutheran Church rural Lanesboro where she was baptized and confirmed.  She attended the Grubtown school thru the 8th grade.

In 1946 Delone married Gilman Fossum, Jr., they later divorced. They had farmed in rural Lanesboro before moving to Mabel in 1956.  She did housekeeping outside of the home, worked for Control Data in Spring Grove, and for 42 years at Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel as a CNA and fixing hair. She also worked at Senior Dining in Mabel, retiring in 2008. She enjoyed old-time music, dancing, cooking and baking for many events and organizations in the area.

Delone was a member of the Mabel First Lutheran church and WELCA, and was chairman of the kitchen serving committee for many years. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary for 54 years and American Legion Auxiliary for 13 years.

Delone passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Green Lea Senior Living in Mabel at the age of 89.

Delone is survived by four children Gloria (Dale) Torgerson, Roger (Beth) Fossum, Steve (Monica Pierce) Fossum, and Lisa O’Bieglo all of Mabel; ten grandchildren Diana Sobolik, Laura Bollman, Bobbie Vickerman, Ronda Carolan, Renee Ramstad, Rochelle Austin, Rick Fossum, Bryce Oakes Fossum, Kayla and Collin O’Bieglo; twenty-one great grandchildren Tyler, Karli, and Katelyn Ramstad, Kelsey Evenson, Kylie Olson, Libby and Nate Rolfs, Garrett and Gabe Austin, Parker, Geordan, Mason, and Carson Fossum, Bryant Bollman, Coranda and Brode Vickerman, Walker Sobolik, Payson and Kiptyn Greco, Jaxon and Aiden Oakes Fossum; and two great-great grandchildren Brynn Herman and Emmett Evenson.   She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Milton Roshiem; two sisters Lillian Flattum and Gilma Flattum; and a son-in-law Dale O’Bieglo.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Mabel First Lutheran Church in Mabel with Rev. Elliott Malm officiating.  Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday, December 6th at the Mabel First Lutheran Church and one hour prior to services at the church.
