Bayonne was born November 27, 1926 in Spring Grove, Minnesota to Lars and Ivy (Sauer) Bergsgaard. She graduated from the Spring Grove High School. In 1945 she married Vernon L. Wright in Spring Grove. They farmed in the Dorchester, Iowa area for a short time before moving to the farm in Burr Oak and has remained a resident there. Vernon passed away November 4, 2010. She was a member of the Burr Oak Lutheran Church and enjoyed helping with church functions, sewing, traveling, and boating.
Bayonne passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at her home in Burr Oak at the age of 89.
Bayonne is survived by two children Dawn Hewitt of Spring Grove and Greg (Shirley) of Burr Oak; six grandchildren Brenda Leibold, Tracy Joe McCabe, Heather (Jerry) Frey, Naycia (Mike) Dotzler, Twyla (Wade) Marlow, and Tyler Wright; two step-grandchildren Dawn Hoppe and Michelle (Scott) Saltou; and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, and her parents.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, Iowa with the Rev. Matt Larson officiating. Burial will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Tuesday, February 16 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
