Arnie was born January 13, 1949 in Spring Grove, Minnesota to Arden and Irene (Lysgaard) Vigeland. He attended school in Mabel. He had polio since he was five years old, but it never slowed him down. Over the years he had worked the Chevrolet Garage in Mabel, hauled fertilizer, seed, and feed for Trygstad, built pole sheds for Ardell Peterson, and did farm work for the Peterson Brothers Farm. He enjoyed life, especially spending time with Trudy, camping, fishing, and visiting with friends. He loved to drive tractors, and in his younger days, fast cars.
Arnie passed away unexpectedly at his home in Prosper, Minnesota on July 2, 2013 at the age of 64.
Arnie is survived by his best friend and partner Trudy Fitch Dennis; his mother Irene Vigeland of Newburg; a sister Arlene (Darrell) Sinclair of Rochester, Minnesota; a brother Richard (Lisa) Vigeland of Alma, Wisconsin; and Trudy’s family Anngel (Jason) Bruns of Lacrescent, mother-in-law Opal Fitch of Pickwick, Minnesota, Franklin (Cindy) Fitch of Pickwick, Dorothy (Jonathan) Pettit of Rushford, Perry (Tammy) Fitch, of Pickwick, grandchildren Mathew Wiste, and Mitchel, Karissa, and Brandon Bruns. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and good friend Roger Peterson. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Roger.
Funeral services will be 11AM Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 Friday at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church. |
