CORRINE IONE HAGEN

July 28, 1922 - April 19, 2013

Corrine was born on July 28, 1922  to Emma (Ladsten) and Lawrence Haakenson.  She attended school in Mabel and graduated valedictorian of her class in l940.  She married Glenn K. Hagen in June that year.  They farmed in rural Mabel for over 20 years.  During that time, Corrine led 4-H groups, taught Sunday school and played piano and organ at Scheie Lutheran Church.  She was a lifetime member of Scheie.

The family moved to an acreage just south of Mabel in 1961.  Glenn died in l969 and Corrine raised her two youngest daughters on her own.  She had a variety of work experiences in Spring Grove, Decorah, and Rochester.

Corrine moved to Decorah, Iowa in l979 to work at Luther College where she was a line supervisor in dining services.  She retired from Luther in l994.    While living in Decorah, Corrine enjoyed time with her friends and colleagues and helping care for all of her young grandchildren.

She moved to Harmony Apartments in Harmony, MN in 2004, to the Meadows Assisted Living in Mabel in 2010, and to Green Lea Manor in 2011.

Corrine was an avid reader and liked to keep up with current events.   She enjoyed music, Norwegian cooking and baking, writing, playing cards, visiting with people, and talking on the phone.

Corrine passed away passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Green Lea Manor in Mabel at the age of 90.

Corrine is survived by daughters Gloria (David) Crumm of Grand Rapids, MN;  Diane (Richard) Severe of Eagan, MN;  Carol Hagen (Eddy Atwell) of Decorah, IA;  four grandchildren, Sara Hagen of Raleigh, NC;  Sam Storlie of Mabel;  Hannah (Adam) Hatlan-Atwell of Madison, WI;  and Haaken Hagen-Atwell of Decorah;  nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents;  3 sisters, Edna (Cleo) Thompson, Lillian (Knute) Hagen and Donna (Everett) Hagen;  husband, Glenn, son Donald, and daughter Jean (Fred) Storlie.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel with Rev. Mary Waudby officiating.   Visitation will be held at Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel on Tuesday, April 23 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. and at the church one hour before services on Wed.
