AMY G. ENGELHARDT

October 26, 1927 - November 19, 2012

Amy was born October 26, 1927 in Castalia, Iowa to Harvey and Marie (Meyer) Dahms.  She attended country schools in the Castalia area and graduated from the Monona High School.  On October 26, 1945 she married Melvin Engelhardt at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  They farmed in the Burr Oak area until 1976 when they retired and moved to Mabel. Amy did babysitting, delivered Meals on Wheels, and volunteered at Green Lea Manor. Melvin passed away June 3, 2007.  She has been a resident of the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel for three years. Amy was a member of the Mabel First Lutheran Church and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, embroidering, baking, cooking, traveling, going to parades, and supporting local fundraisers.

Amy passed away  Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, Iowa at the age of 85.

Amy  is survived by two daughters Barbara (Alton) Barth and Kathy (Marc) Rosendahl both of Decorah, Iowa; step daughter Viola (Dan) Goluba of McHenry, Illinois, grandchildren Lori (Rick) Rea and Scott (Michelle) Barth of Decorah, Misti (Ryan) Shawver of New Hampton, and Kyle (Katie) Rosendahl of Waverly, Iowa; Great Grandchildren Tyler and Austin Barth, Jack and Madison Shawver, and Cayla Rosendahl; brother Lynwood (Sandy) Dahms of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; step daughter-in-law Ruth (Kenneth) Jauert of Decorah; and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin; her parents; a sister Zonna Carter; and step children Donald and Duane Engelhardt, and Violet Larson.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Mabel First Lutheran Church in Mabel with the Rev. Gail George officiating.  Burial will be in the Mabel Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Tuesday, November 20th  at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
