Norma was born May 26, 1929 in Spring Grove, Minnesota to Martin and Nettie (Johnson) Burmaster. She attended the Blackhammer School and graduated from the Spring Grove High School. On October 12, 1946 she married Harold C. Rollie in Spring Grove, Minnesota. They lived in Hesper, Iowa for 52 years. She had worked at the Hesper School and at the Winneshiek County Courthouse. She was a member of the Hesper Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Norma passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel at the age of 83.
Norma is survived by two sons Dennis (Sharon) of Rochester and Neil (Colleen) of Tomball, Texas; two daughters Sandy Nelson of Hastings, Minnesota and Linda Rasmussen of Decorah, Iowa; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother Myron Burmaster of Caledonia; and a sister Mardelle (Herbert) Staven of Spring Grove. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter Debra; and her parents.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Hesper Lutheran Church in Hesper, Iowa with the Rev. Matt Larson, officiating. Burial will be in the Hesper Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 Thursday, September 27th at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church. |
