DELORIS H. BLAGSVEDT

June 3, 1926 - November 30, 2011

Deloris was born June 3, 1926 in Amherst Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota to Oscar and Hilda (Flattum) Pederson.  She was baptized at Southfork Lutheran Church and confirmed at Garness Trinity.
Deloris attended Choice and Newburg schools and graduated from Mabel High School in 1944.  She and her sister, Elsie, worked in La Crosse at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital.  Deloris Returned to Mabel where she was employed as a bookkeeper for Mabel Produce and lived at the Mabel Hotel with Lorraine (Benson) Peterson.
On February 16, 1946 she was united in marriage with Harold L. Blagsvedt in Lanesboro, MN with Rev. Nestande officiating.  They farmed in the Mabel area most of their married life.  They farmed briefly in Caledonia.
Deloris was a member of the Mabel First Lutheran Church and WELCA.  She loved music, dancing, embroidering, reading, baking, following the news, playing games and euchre, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved having new experiences, live theatre and performances, and shopping trips to Minneapolis and La Crosse.  She had a great sense of humor.
Deloris passed away November 30, at the Green Lea Manor Nursing in Mabel, shortly after her return from Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse at the age of 85. 
She is survived by her children, Suzanne (Richard) Neubauer of Burnsville, Minn., Bruce of Crystal, Minn., Bill (Sue) of Waukon, Iowa, and James (Cindy) of Spring Grove, Minn.; eleven grandchildren Chad, Sally, Nicholas, Erik, Jill, Sara, Erin, Emily Mia, Christopher, Jennifer, and David; eleven great grandchildren Chase, Angeline, Caleb, Kennedy, Grant, Noah, Emma, Gavin, Brett, Jaxson, and Oskar; three sisters-in-law Bev (Dale), Gladys (Carroll), and Eleanor Flattum; and brother –in-law Jim Ehrsam.  She was preceded in death by her husband Harold; her parents and seven siblings Morris, Lu Cille (Loken), Francis, Dale (her twin) Elsie (Ehrsam), Carroll, and Carlyle.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, December 5, 2011 at the Mabel First Lutheran Church in Mabel with Rev. Gail Klavetter officiating.  Burial will be in the Mabel Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be 3 – 6 pm Sunday at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.  Memorials may be directed to WELCA of the Mabel First Lutheran Church.
