Elaine was born March 31, 1930 in San Jose, California to Donald and Belmita (Karnes) De La Piedra. On October 30, 1954 she married LaVern Vickerman in San Jose. They lived there and she worked for 35 years at ITT Jennings. They moved to Mabel in 1996 where they have resided since. She was a member of the St. Olaf Catholic Church in Mabel and enjoyed gambling, watching classic western movies, and cooking, but especially having visits from their great granddaughters and friends.
Elaine passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 20, 2011 at her home at the age of 81.
Elaine is survived by her husband LaVern of Mabel; a son Donald Pedone of Kingman, Arizona; a granddaughter Cristal Adkins of Mabel; and great grandchildren Shelby, Amy, and Taylor Adkins, and Austen and Lyndsee O’Day. She was preceded in death by a grandson Ronnie and two sisters.
Funeral Mass will be 11 AM Monday, October 24, 2011 at the St. Olaf Catholic Church in Mabel with Father Donald P. Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in the Newburg Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 pm Sunday, October 23 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel. There with a prayer service at 7 PM. |
