Lucy was born March 22, 1932 in Spring Valley, Minnesota to Gilman and Viola (Horsman) Anderson. She attended a country school near York, then graduated from the Harmony High School in 1952. On April 21, 1956 she married Gaylon Richardson at the Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony. She helped on the farm east of Canton where they lived until 1995 when they moved into Canton. She was a member of the Canton-Scotland Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed helping on the farm and raising chickens, her flowers and garden, but especially spending time with her family and babysitting the grandchildren. Lucy passed away Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, Iowa at the age of 78. Lucy is survived by her husband Gaylon of Canton; four children Kim (Dave) Wangen of Harmony, Stacey, Scott, and Tami (Doug) Marin all of Canton; eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a sister Gilma (Myron) Scheevel of Harmony; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Canton –Scotland Presbyterian Church in Canton with the Rev. Amy Perkins officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Bristol Center Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30 until the time of the service at the church. Memorials are preferred.
