CLARA A. ERICKSON

October 19, 1924 - November 27, 2010

Clara was born October 19, 1924 in Canton Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota to Earl and Hattie Winch.  She attended school in Canton and Mabel.  On June 7, 1941 she was united in marriage to Clifford P. Erickson.  He preceded her in death on July 27, 1984.   She worked at Mansfield in Spring Grove and for almost twenty years as a Nurse’s Aid at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.  She lived on the farm until 2007 when she moved into Mabel. She was a member of the Mabel First Lutheran Church and its women’s groups where she had helped with Sunday School for several years. 

Clara was a talented rosemaler and painter.  She also enjoyed playing the organ, working with leather, sewing and quilting, glass etching, and ceramics.

Clara passed away Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel at the age of 86.

Clara is survived by a daughter Jeanne (Randy) Koepp of Decorah, Iowa; a son Lester (Candace) Erickson of Mabel five grandchildren Karl Koepp of Colo, Iowa, Leif (Joanie) Erickson of Chatfield, Peter (Jennie) Erickson of Chatfield, Thor (Tina) Erickson of Elgin, MN, and Leah (Jesse) Underbakke of BellBrook, Ohio; nine great grandchildren, Autum and Silja Erickson, Brent, Chandler, and Davis Erickson, Torin and Tayla Erickson, and Helena and Magnus Underbakke; two brothers Aulden (Virginia) Winch of Stewartville, MN and Charles (Janice) Winch of Rockford, IL; one sister-in-law Margaret Winch of LaCrosse, WI; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford, her parents, three sisters, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the Mabel First  Lutheran Church in Mabel with the Rev. Gail Klavetter officiating.  Burial will be in the Garness Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Tuesday, November 30 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
