PHYLLIS DELONE LARSON

February 8, 1926 - August 31, 2010

Phyllis was born February 8, 1926 to Oscar and Myra (Erlandson) Vatland at the Erlandson homestead near Tawney, Minnesota in Preble Township.  She attended grade school at the Olson School and graduated from the Mabel High School in 1944.  After graduation she worked at the Carlton Hotel cafeteria in Rochester, Minnesota.
On November 2, 1945, she married Kenneth Larson at the Garness Lutheran Church, rural Mabel.  The couple farmed for several years, mostly in the Mabel area.  During this time Phyllis also worked at the Mabel Nursing Home in food preparation.
In 1969, they moved to the Canton area where they resided until 2002.
Kenneth was a carpenter and Phyllis worked at home.  She helped him with his antique tool displays during Hesper-Mabel Steam Engine Days where they were both members of the Steam Engine Club.
Phyllis was a member of the Henrytown Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed taking care of her lawn, flowers, and vegetable garden.
After the death of her husband in 2002, she moved to the Harmony Apartments in Harmony, Minn.  She was an avid walker who could often be spotted zipping up and down the sidewalks around town.  Phyllis was proud of her Norwegian heritage and never strayed far from her beloved coffee cup.
She enjoyed visiting, shopping trips, and just spending time with her family.
Phyllis passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in Harmony at the age of 84.
Phyllis is survived by four daughters Carolyn Young of Azle, Texas, Cheryl (James) Elliott of Harmony, Cynthia (Robert) Coyle of Preston, and Carla (Tom) Hagen, of St. Charles; a son Charles (Vickie) of Elgin, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 13 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister Vivian Wilson, and her parents.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the Henrytown Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
