Barbara was born January 15, 1946 in Spring Grove, Minnesota to Clarence and Catherine (Burns) Skauge. She graduated from the Mabel High School in 1964. Soon after high school she moved to Alaska where she worked for the State of Alaska. She married Duane Henschel, but they later
divorced. Barbara moved to Hawaii but returned to Alaska and continued
her work with the State until her retirement. On June 30, 1990 she married Frank Miller in Anchorage where they have resided since.
Barbara passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Rochester Methodist Hospital at the age of 64.
Barbara is survived by her husband Frank of Anchorage; two sons Daniel Henschel and Sean Henschel; four grandchildren Heather, Annisa, Topanga, and Laura; and a sister Mary (Wayne) Blomgren of Rochester, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Beverly Sagedalen; and two brothers Dennis and Richard.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July14, 2010 at the St. Olaf Catholic Church in Mabel with Father Donald P. Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in rural Mabel. Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM Tuesday, July 13th at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church. |
