CURTIS H. ANDERSON

February 4, 1920 - July 6, 2010

Curtis was born February 4, 1920 to Bernard and Ellen (Helgeson) Anderson at the farm in rural Mabel.  He attended the Mabel School and as a young man, began running the family farm.  On January 6, 1942 he married Carmen Haagenson at the Garness Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Mabel.  They lived and farmed on that same farm in Newburg Twp. their entire lives.  He retired in 1992, but continued to help his son Don with the farming until just a few years ago.  Carmen passed away July 6, 2001. He was a member of the Garness Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Mabel where he had been very active.  Other interests Curtis had other than his love for farming were model railroading, airplanes, and gardening. 
Curtis passed away Tuesday July 6, 2010, at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel at the age of 90.
Curtis is survived by three sons Bob (Mary) of Winona, David (Bonnie) and Don (Audrey) both of Mabel; 4 grandchildren Sarah (Paul) Tollefsrud, Carrie Anderson, Joel Andeson, and Lindsay Anderson; 3 great grandchildren Jaymeson, Cayden, and Brevyn;  three sister-in-laws Odis Johnson, Darlene Raaen, and June Henn; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Carmen; a son Steven; an infant daughter Carol Jean; brother Orson; and a sister Evelyn Redwing.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday July 10, 2010 at the Garness Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Mabel with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Friday at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
