LLEWELLYN “SNOOKY” TORGERSON

December 27, 1937 - March 14, 2010

Snooky was born December 27, 1937 in  Amherst Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota to Orvin and Myrtle (Davidson) Torgerson. He attended the Canton High School.  He served two years in the United States Army where he worked with artillery in Germany.  On June 17, 1961 he married Wilma Lager at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia.  They lived in Prosper for several years before moving to Caledonia in 1997. 
He worked at several jobs including the natural gas pipe line in Shawano, Wisc., a filling station in Prosper, and Torgerson’s Café in Mabel, and a restaurant in Prosper, but he really enjoyed driving truck.  He had a canned-milk and bulk-milk routes in the Mabel area, then drove for Robert Giblin in Caledonia, Caledonia Haulers, and then for Sno Pac in Caledonia.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 299 in Mabel.  He enjoyed bowling, riding motorcycles, family get togethers, and playing the drums in the band.
Snooky passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010  at his home at the age of 72.
Llewellyn “Snooky” is survived by his wife Wilma of Caledonia, Minn.; five children Jerome (wife Julie) of Canton, Julie (Jim) Stortz of Mabel, Jeffrey (Joan) of Prosper, Joel (Amanda) of Canton, and Jody (LeeAnn) of Cresco, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five siblings Ordell (Rita) of Canton, Dale (Gloria) of Mabel, Pearl (Charles) Holland of Spring Grove, Stanley of Gilbert, Arizona, and Michael (Joy) of Fort Collins, Colorado; and his special dog Laddy.   He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Muriel “Tina” McCabe.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, March18, 2009 at the Henrytown Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by the American Legion.  Visitation will be 4 – 8 PM Wednesday, March 17 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
