Leonard was born March 17, 1936 in Burr Oak, Iowa to Clem and Charlotte (Christopherson ) Brace.  He graduated from the Mabel High School in 1954 and Winona State College in 1958.  On June 25, 1960 he married Donna Marie Grovdahl in Kasson. He taught math at the Canton High School and continued at the Mabel-Canton High School, after the consolidation, until his retirement.  Leonard also farmed in rural Mabel where they resided.  Donna unexpectedly passed away on July 28, 1994. 
Leonard enjoyed golfing, watching sports, his John Deere tractors, and announcing for the football games at Mabel-Canton.
Leonard passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Gundersen Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wisconsin at the age of 73.
Leonard is survived by two children Brian (Julie Rursch) Brace of Reynolds, Illinois, and Rhonda  Brace of Montpelier, Vermont, and a granddaughter Charlotte Madison Brace.  He was preceded in death by his wife Donna; his parents; a sister Gloria; and nieces Sharlyn and Becky.
