Mildred was born  November 25, 1913 in Newburg Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota to John and Marie (Ellestad) Peterson.  She attended the Olson School District in rural Mabel.  On April 19, 1933 she married James “Clifford” Dahl in Mabel.  They resided in Mabel for several years and Mildred had worked at the Mabel Theater, Mansfield Industries in Spring Grove, and at Mabel Furniture.  She was a member of the Mabel First Lutheran Church and WELCA, and she enjoyed playing cards, embroidery, making afghans, and traveling throughout the country. 
Mildred passed away Friday, October 2, 2009 at Tweeten Healthcare in Spring Grove at the age of 95.        
Mildred is survived by a son-in-law Richard Burtness; a granddaughter Nancy Strike of Spring Grove; three great grandchildren Jason Strike, Joel (Diane Newman) Strike, and Jill (Jim)  Britain; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford; her daughter Marlene Burtness; four brothers Henry, Arland, Alvin, and Julius; and three sisters Lou Tripp, Beata Herbernson, and Amanda Peterson.
