DAVID R. “HUGGY” HOLZWARTH, JR
.
February 26, 1974 - July 11, 2009

He was born Feb. 26, 1974, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to David Sr. and Cathy Holzwarth.  He was baptized at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Caledonia and confirmed at the Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel.  He graduated from the Mabel-Canton High School in 1993.  After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served at the Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.  After he was discharged he returned to the Mabel area and worked for Myron Hirsch, FeatherLite, and recently at the Poet Biorefining in Preston as a maintenance supervisor.   He was a member of the Scheie Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding four-wheeler, camping, just being outdoors, and spending time with his nieces and his special friend Heather Stark and her daughter Sadie, and Chelsey and Lindsey Ardinger.

David  passed away Saturday, July 11 near Hatfield, Wisconsin from injuries suffered in an ATV accident at the age of 35.

He is survived by his mother Cathy of Canton, Minnesota; special friend Heather Stark and her daughter Sadie of Mabel; two sisters Rebecca (Michael) Carmack of Caledonia,  Tina (Steve Wallin) Holzwarth of Canton; two brothers  Benjamin (Shanna) of Waukon, Ia., and Andrew of LaCrosse; nieces  Kalinda Kolek, Katrina Holzwarth, Piper Carmack, Paige Carmack, Harli Holzwarth, Hally Holzwarth, Hayden Holzwarth,  Brooklyn Wallin and Brianna Wallin; and special friends Chelsey and Lindsey Ardinger. 

He is preceded in death by his father David, Sr.; paternal grandparents Raymond and Goldie Holzwarth; Maternal grandparents Clara and Carlton Myhre, and an uncle John Myhre.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 17 at the   Mabel First Lutheran Church in  Mabel with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating.  Burial will be in the Scheie Cemetery with military honors from the Mabel American Legion.  Visitation will be 4 – 8 PM Thursday, July 16 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
