Norma was born March 4, 1933 in Spring Grove, Minnesota to Olaf and Selma (Morken) Goodno.  She attended the Quandahl and Bea schools and the Mabel High School.   On September 10, 1950 she married Reginald L. Welper at the Hesper Lutheran Church.  The lived in Dubuque, Iowa until 1956 when they moved to the farm in the Hesper area and has resided there since.  Norma worked at the Home Café and Countryside Inn  in Mabel.  Reginald passed away February 7, 1997.   She was an active member of the Hesper Lutheran Church, where she had been the Sunday School Superintendant for several years, WELCA, and the American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed tatting, cooking, sewing, and helping with quilts for the graduates from church.

Norma is survived by five sons Ronald (Rosemary) of Bishopstone,  England, Steve (Nancy) of Hesper, Neil (Roberta) of Cloquet, Minnesota, Russell (Nancy) of Dorchester, Iowa, and Robert (Lisa) of Clear Lake, Iowa; two daughters Lori (Alan) Heitman of New Albin, Iowa and Julie (Robert) Renk of Caledonia, Minnesota;   21 grandchildren;  6 great grandchildren; four brothers George (Beverly) of East Dubuque, Illinois, Roger (Yvonne) of Hesper, Solon of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and Gary (Darleen) of Hesper.  She was preceded in death by her husband Reginald, an infant daughter, her parents, and a sister Ragna Hillard.

Norma passed away  Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin at the age of 75.
