Affry was born December 13, 1912 in the Highland area to John and Anna (Rolfshus) Lerol. He attended country school before graduating from the Lanesboro High School. He was a lifelong resident and farmer in Amherst and Holt Townships. Affry was a resident at the Good Samaritan Center in Preston until it’s closing and then at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel. He was a member of the Highland Lutheran Church and enjoyed winter trips to Texas, visiting, reading, and listening to Christian Radio.
There are no immediate survivors. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Anna; two brothers Bennett and Kermit; and a sister Gladys.
Affry passed away Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin at the age of 96.
Funeral services will be 11AM Friday, January 30, 2009 at the Highland Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro, Minnesota with the Rev. Roger Knudson, officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 until the start of the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Highland Cemetery Association.
