Perlind was born January 10, 1922 in Preble Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota to Ole and Manda (Northouse) Olson. He attended the Kelly School near the farm in Preble Twp. On November 24, 1944 he married Elvina S. Nerstad at the Scheie Lutheran Church. Elvina passed away December 12, 1999. Perlind lived and farmed his entire life in Preble Township. He was a member of the Scheie Lutheran Church where he had served on the council, Farmer’s Union, and NFO, and enjoyed being with family and friends, church activities, playing cards, and horses. Perlind passed away Monday, October 27, 2008 at the Gunderson-Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wisconsin at the age of 86. Perlind is survived by three children Paul, Charles (Fay), and Karen (Neil) Rasmussen all of Mabel; five grandchildren Heath and Adam Olson, Kimberlea Wagner, Tara Kreidermacher, and Lance Rasmussen; five step-grandchildren Deanna, Sherry, Lisa, Todd, and Tony; nine great grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren; a sister Gorda Housker of Mabel; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Elvina; his parents; an infant son; and a brother Orville. Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, October 31, 2008 at the Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 PM Thursday, October 30 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
