August  13, 1926 - August 21, 2008

Harold was born August  13, 1926 in Newburg Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota to George and Beulah (Soiney) Larson. He attended the Riceford and Mabel Schools.  He farmed with his father in the Riceford area before serving in the United States Army.  He served in Germany during the Korean Conflict.  After his service in the Army he resumed farming near Riceford.  On September 24, 1960 he married Helen Johnson Opsahl in Harmony.  He remained on the farm until recently when they moved into Mabel.  He was a member of the Mabel First Lutheran Church and the American Legion and enjoyed his farming and playing cards. 

Harold passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008 at his home in Mabel at the age of  82.

Harold is survived by his wife Helen of Mabel; a daughter Darlene Larson of  Eitzen, Minnesota; two step-children Diane (John DeLong) Ferring of Lansing, Iowa and Dale (Dorene) Opsahl of Caledonia; six grandchildren Jerry and Jill Hammel, Rick Ferring, and Darci, Dariel, and Dylan Opsahl; three great grandchildren Jacob, Ava, and Chloe; four sisters Bernice Garness of Mabel, Norma Spitzmiller and Helen (Jake) Beaman both of Rockford, Illinois, and Marie Betsinger of Rockland, Wisconsin; three brothers Leland (Marcy) of Green Valley, Arizona, and Leslie (Carol) and Richard (Marcia) both of Mabel; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Ronald Ferring.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Mabel First Lutheran Church in Mabel with Rev. Gail Klavetter officiating.  Burial will be in the Riceford Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion. Visitation will be 4 –7   PM Sunday, August 24, at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
