Dennis was born July 21, 1944 in Spring Grove, Minnesota to Orval B. and Irene T. (Hesby) Hanson.  He attended country schools and then Mabel High School.  When he was 18 years old he started working for Roverud Construction in Spring Grove and remained there throughout his career. He had lived in Preble Township until moving into Mabel 10 years ago. He was a member of the Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, and the Wild Turkey Federation.  He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Dennis passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008 at his home at the age of 63.

Dennis is survived by two sisters Ione (Grant) Selness of Spring Grove, and Joan (Henry) Cheney of Austin, Minnesota; two brothers Alan (Rebecca) of Rushford, Minnesota, and Dale (Carol) of Chatfield, Minnesota; 30 nieces and nephews; and special friend Donna Donlan of Spring Grove.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Norma Johnson; and two brothers Ordell and Curtis.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, June 11 at the Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating.  Burial will be in the Scheie North Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 PM Tuesday, June 10 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
