Robert was born August 6, 1919 in Riceford, Minnesota to Henry L. and Geneva R. (Bell) Hagen.  He attended school in Mabel and remained a lifelong area resident as he farmed in Newburg Township of Fillmore County.  During World War II he served in the United States Army in Italy and Africa.  On October 16, 1950 he married Doris M. Lien at the Mabel parsonage.  He was a member of the Mabel First Lutheran Church, a life member the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and formely served on the Newburg Township Board.  Robert enjoyed his horses, going on the Friendship Wagon Train, and dancing to old time music.
Robert passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wisconsin at the age of 88.
Robert is survived by a daughter Karen (Tom) Traufler of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; two grandsons Shanon (Shirley) Vickerman of Caledonia, Minn. and Shelby Vickerman of Mabel; a great grandson Andrew; a sister Ruth (Vernon) Allen of Mabel; a nephew Jonathan (Gwen) Allen of Mabel; a sister-in- law Liz Hagen; and special friend Wauneta Back of Ostrander, Minnesota.  He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a brother Charles.
