Ruth was born October 23, 1927 in Horton, Iowa to Ingolf and Hattie
(Linderman) Olson. She attended country schools and then on June 26, 1947 she married James Perry in Riceville, Iowa. They lived in several places including Winneshiek County, California, and Mabel before moving to Hesper in 1960 where they have lived until moving to Madison, Wisconson recently.
She had formerly worked at Control Data in Spring Grove, Minnesota. She was a member of the Hesper Friends Church and enjoyed her flower garden and fishing.
Ruth passed away Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Belmont Nursing and Rehab Center in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 80.
Ruth is survived by her husband James of Madison, Wisconsin; a daughter Janis (Phil) Emmling of Madison; a son Doug (Won) of San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren Brian (Jennifer) Schiltz, and Rhonda (Robert) Stankiewicz, and Victoria, Rebekah, and Hanna Perry; a step-grandson Steve Emmling; four great grandchildren Derek Schiltz, Addison Emmling, Jessica Schiltz, and Adam Stankiewicz; two sisters Marie Horan and Louella (Dervin) Ludeking both of Decorah, Iowa; a sister-in-law Jaerdis (Olson) Neshiem of Decorah; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson Jamie Perry; and two brothers Freddie and Melvin.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the Hesper Friends Church in Hesper, Iowa with Pastor Keith Mardock officiating.
Burial will be in the Hesper Public Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 PM Monday, June 2, at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church
