Norris was born August 5, 1915 in Quasqueton, Iowa to Henry and Pearl
(Timson) Nielsen.  He attended school in Quasqueton.  On August 26, 1939 he married Irene Nelson at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
He had worked for a short time at Day Dairy in Cedar Falls before farming in Butler, Blackhawk, and Buchanan Counties. He also worked at the University of Northern Iowa Cedar Falls for eight years before moving to the Mabel area in 1981.  In 2005 they moved into The Meadows assisted living in Mabel.  He was a member of the Mabel First Lutheran Church and formerly of the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed raising quarter horses and sheep.

Norris passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel at the age of 92.

Norris is survived by his wife Irene of Mabel; a brother Edwin of Hackensack, Minnesota; a sister-in-law Ethel Mae (Joe) Schneider of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10:30  AM Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Mabel First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Curtis Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Quasqueton Cemetery in Quasqueton, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 – 6 PM Friday at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
